Winter preparations. Installing a diesel generator and batteries is an alternate and backup way for maintaining uninterrupted electrical communication
Taking into account the challenges that developed during the previous fall and winter in guaranteeing a consistent power supply in various parts of the nation, the Communications Service, in collaboration with mobile carriers, decided to improve the alternative and backup ways of powering base stations.
Telecommunications businesses inked contracts to acquire and install diesel generators and batteries to keep base stations operational during the fall and winter of 2024-2025.
As of July 1, this year, LLC “Indigo Tajikistan” had imported 545 diesel generators and batteries, 500 of which had been installed and placed into service. JSC “TT Mobile” imported 332 battery units and distributed them to 168 base stations. LLC “Takom” has imported 90 battery sets and distributed them to 50 sites, with the work in this region now complete. JSC “Babilone M” has imported 130 batteries and installed and commissioned them at 90 locations.
It should be mentioned that Dushanbe has 76 sites, each of which is completely equipped.
As the cold season approaches, all mobile operators’ technical work and winter preparations intensify, with the continued acquisition and installation of additional diesel generators and batteries. It is important to note that such measures are implemented gradually. Currently, the primary focus is on the Republic of Tajikistan’s towns and districts, where the installation and commissioning of base stations, batteries, as well as the import and repair of diesel generators, is progressing rapidly.
These measures are effective in special conditions, such as accidents, natural disasters, and excessive precipitation, which often occur in winter. It should be noted that all base stations in the country receive electricity through the country’s power substations. Therefore, the Communications Service and telecommunications operators continue their collaboration with JSC “Barqi Tojik” to prepare the power systems for the fall and winter seasons.
